There are many things a parent must teach their child in life. Learning about the value of a dollar is a very important life lesson for a child. In this lesson, a child will learn that money does not grow on trees, and that a person must work in order to have money to spend.

Here are some ways you can teach your child the value of a dollar.

Many parents hand over allowance money to their children each week. The parent doesn’t give a thought to handing the child the money, and the child doesn’t give a thought as to where the money comes from. A good method for instilling the value of a dollar in a child (and one that is employed by many parents) is getting your child to work for his or her pocket money. Many parents pay their child a certain amount of allowance depending on the types of chores they do and how many they accomplish.

As your child has access to his or her own funds from their allowance, encourage them to buy things for themselves, such as clothing. They may like hip hop clothing, such as Apple Bottoms jeans, in which case you can encourage them to save up their allowance to purchase them. This will not only teach them about the value of a dollar, but will also teach them to value what they buy, as they have used their own money to purchase it.

Teaching your child the value of a dollar when he or she is young will help them to make smarter financial choices in the future.

The ability to personalize an American Girl doll is what makes them unlike any other doll. Girls can design a doll that looks just like them by choosing from an almost infinite combination of skin tones, hairstyles, hair colors and eye colors. Most girls choose the custom doll for their first American Girl because the experience is so much fun, and because their doll will be very unique.

However, there is no rule that girls need to create a carbon copy of themselves. Having the ability to choose characteristics, means that she can create a doll that is your child’s total opposite. Many girls own dozens of American Girl dolls because they like the variety and the different “personalities.”

American Girl also creates an annual “Doll of the Year” which is always a popular choice. While these dolls come with a standard outfit, they are easy to personalize with extra outfits and accessories like doll shoes. Shoes can change the appearance of an entire ensemble, and include other footwear such as skates, ballet slippers, sneakers and riding boots.

The Historical Characters collection is also a popular choice for a first doll. These dolls come with a book series that illustrates life and cultural issues in that character’s time. These educational books, as well as period clothing and accessories, help bring history to life and add depth to the doll’s personality. The books help girls to understand not only events in American history, but also how girls throughout history coped with ethical issues and hardships with the help of family and friends.

Once you are pregnant, it is important to strive to be healthy. Diet and exercise will play an important role, but your emotional health is also essential. This actually starts before you even become pregnant and a few things can help to make this possible.

Steps for a Healthy Pregnancy

Even before getting pregnant, it is important to develop a pregnancy calendar. It is important at this stage to discuss any health issues you have with your doctor before starting the pregnancy journey. Sometimes the father will also need a physical to ensure that all is well.

Even if it wasn’t a big part of your life before, any woman planning on getting pregnant should start exercising. The healthier she is, the better the chances are for a healthy pregnancy.

Many doctors will prescribe prenatal vitamins; especially folic acids once they know you are actively trying for a baby. This will help to prevent neutral tube and other possible birth defects.

Diet should be looked at with a view to improving it if necessary. Unhealthy eating habits should be discontinued as proper diet aids the growth and development of the fetus. Proteins, vitamins and minerals, fiber and fats should be a part of any pregnant woman’s diet.

Once you are pregnant, use a pregnancy calendar to track your baby’s development. This helps you understand what is happening inside your body. The information provided will also help assess your personal habits.

What? A bill from the dentist? You hardly expected it to come so soon. Your car needs two new tires to pass inspection and your electric bill has just gone through the roof.

But there it is, the dentist bill, in black and white.

Now what? How do you pay that unexpected bill without losing out on another needed area of your life, like food?

Here’s how:

Check into payday loans. If you need the money soon, a loan can be deposited in your bank for retrieval even by the next day. Everything is handled online, so there is no going into an office or shuffling loads of paperwork.

Make a call. Ask for an extension. It’s amazing how open folks are to helping you out when you’re not afraid to confess that you just don’t know what you’re going to do. Usually businesses are more than willing to work with someone who doesn’t try to hide from the bill and who instead makes an effort to take care of it.

Talk to a friend or relative. Ask if they can help. They might even pay you upfront in cash for helping them out with a household need or a babysitting service. Find out what your relative lender is struggling with, and you may just be an excellent match!

Getting the help you need for that unexpected bill is really a click or a phone call away. Don’t let another day go by without reaching out for the help you need. You will be glad you did.

Present on smartphones is the new feature MOTOBLUR. This is an easy-to-use technology that allows the user to keep track of social networks, and much more. Here is some information on what it does and how it can change how you operate online.

On Motorola Android phones, such as the CLIQ 2, MOTOBLUR is present and seen in full force. Imagine if you could see all of your social networks, email, and other sources on one screen. This is exactly what MOTOBLUR brings, and it is customizable as well. Put what matters to you most in one easy-to-use interface with this social networking tool.

If that isn’t enough, there’s a further dynamic to MOTOBLUR that will serve users well. It offers three profiles: home, work, and play. The profiles can be tailored to those aspects of your life. If you want to switch from work to play mode in an instant, it’s easy. You’ll receive the updates you want depending on the mode you’re in; when you choose a smartphone, it’s hard to pass up this kind of customization.

Social network updates make it great for users of all kinds. Students can use the profiles to switch between work and email accounts and filter out that which distracts them. They’ll only receive social network updates when they want to receive them. It works that way for all users; you can stay focused on work when you’re at work.

Look for MOTOBLUR in smartphones like the CLIQ 2. You won’t be disappointed with the customization and personalization that comes with this powerful feature set.

As phones become more prominent in the business world and among adults, cell phone usage has also risen significantly among teenagers. Unlike previous generations, high school students of today live in a world full of texting, internet surfing, and constant music, compliments of their cell phone.

While cell phones were originally made for simply talking, teens are now relying on their cell phones even more for texting. Texting has become a large part of the high school social scene these days. Texting during class has become such a problem that some schools have banned cell phones from their campus. Texting while driving has also become a problem as well.

Many phones, including the cricket android, now also offer internet browsing, which means that teenagers have more information at their fingertips to look up information, but more likely to watch Youtube videos or login to Facebook to update their status or check their news feed.

On top of texting notes to each other in an ever-growing form of abbreviated communication (such as writing “ur” instead of “you are”), many cell phones also double as an mp3 player. Walking through the halls of a high school, you will regularly see students walking and talking with their friends with one ear bud in, listening to their music nonstop throughout the day. This constant entertainment and constant noise could change this generation’s attention span and will make advertisers and others have to work harder to grab teens out of their own world. All of these increases in cell phone use will change the way that we interact with teenagers, as their world becomes even more different than the one we grew up in.

Sending your child off to college can be both an emotional and expensive experience for parents. This does not have to be a huge burden if you start preparing early on.

The best time to start saving for your child’s education is as early as possible. When your child is young, open a savings account and start depositing a set amount each month. You can also sit down with a bank representative or your accountant and discuss your various options to make your money grow faster. This can include investing in a money market account, investing or you may go a more conservative approach by using savings bonds. Whatever you do, with careful planning and an early start you can put quite a bit aside.

The other important step is to be aware of the current options you have once your child gets into high school. There are numerous options including scholarships, grants, loans and much more. If you are aware of your choices and how they are set up, you can make an educated decision. Involving your child in this process as much as possible is important as this is a valuable opportunity to teach them financial responsibility. It also gives your child an opportunity to take more responsibility for his or her own education.

An additional option is to get your child involved in a work study program. The federal government will pay the school a set amount of money and the school helps your child find employment on campus. They then pay them out of the money from the federal government.

Teenagers can have complex relationships, whether dating or with friends. Parents feel at a loss if they are concerned about the type of friends and people that their child is hanging around with.

To reduce this worry, parents can start by becoming involved as much as possible in their child’s life. Parents need to be asking questions, checking up on and interacting with their teen. This does not have to involve hovering over their child, but just staying current on who their friends and where they were going. Parents should establish a set time with teens when they are to arrive home when going out with friends. It is also good to meet your child’s friends and have a positive attitude when she brings them over. You do have to be tough, though, if you have a strong conviction that a friend is not good to hang around.

Teenage romances can be even more challenging to parents, but can be handled if you are open minded, listen and keep tabs on your teen. Set aside time to meet your child’s date and talk with him or her, getting to know who your child is dating. You also need to openly discuss with your teen the risks that come with dating, sex and how to make smart choices. This time spent is well worth the effort when your teen can be a mature, responsible individual when it comes to dating.

The key to making teenage relationships a positive experience for you both is being involved in a positive way.

Families can often face a number of difficulties, including discipline issues, financial problems and sudden illnesses. These can bring on stress, strain and frustration, but can be dealt with if you know where to get help.

When financial problems hit a family, especially after a layoff from work, unforeseen expenses or similar circumstances, families can really struggle to make ends meet. One of the best places to start is to sit down and re-examine the family budget. Find places where you can cut expenses to free up money for needs. You can also consult a credit counseling agency to get free and reputable help to deal with mounting debt.

When a child has severe behavioral, emotional or mental issues families can get help starting with the school district. Parents need to work closely with school officials to get the necessary interventions, testing and plans put into play to help the child. This also may involve seeking the services of a counselor for individual and family counseling. This can make a huge difference in a child’s life.

When medical expenses and illness mount, counseling is an asset to help a family deal with major life changes. They can also seek help from hospitals to get bills paid when insurance does not kick in. Many hospitals have a department that can offer charity to defray costs. They can also often work with you to establish a payment plan that is affordable.

If you take advantage of resources that are available, you can make weathering these types of situations much easier.

Financial responsibility is one of the most important lessons that a teenager can learn. This is one lesson that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

When you teenager begins to work during high school and has more money to spend, teaching them to fiscally responsible is vital. The first thing to establish is the importance of saving money. Go to the bank with your teenager and open up a personal savings account. Explain that setting aside a certain portion of each paycheck is wise, especially if hard times or unforeseen expenses come up. Then, show them how to keep track of their money using an account register. This time is well spent as the dollars add up.

The next step is to discuss the difference between wants and needs. They need to understand that certain items are essentials, such as gas, insurance, food and bills. You can do this by helping your teen to establish a monthly budget. Then, explore what a want is, making it clear that certain things are best put off until later. By having a clear understanding of this, your teenager will be less likely to get into financial trouble.

The other key element is to teach by example. Show your teenager through your actions how you, as a parent, have to fiscally responsible for the family finances. Show them how you balance your checkbook and explain how you make financial decisions on a daily basis. This time will help your teen to be more responsible and to spend money wisely.
